SCULPTRA

Restore natural collagen and skin firmness

about Sculptra treatment

Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable treatment which contains microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).

It is not the same as a hyaluronic acid dermal filler.

PLLA is a powerful biostimulator and helps to restore natural collagen and improve skin tightness.

Common areas for treatment include the jawline, cheeks and temples.

We can even use it within the hairline to help with the appearance of facial lifting.

Scultura for men and woemn at KinDRed Skin

All treatment journeys start with a consultation with an experienced doctor. We will be able to make a full medical and facial assessment and work with you to develop a treatment plan. Risks, benefits and aftercare will be fully discussed.

Treatment will involve cleansing and marking up of the area and usually involve application of a topical numbing cream.

Sculptra is an injectable treatment and we usually use a cannula (soft tipped needle) to place the product under the skin. The procedure is well tolerated and most people find it comfortable.

After the treatment, the area may look a little puffy temporarily but this will quickly subside.

Sculptra can improve the appearance of skin laxity and aging in the following areas:

  • Marionette lines (mouth to chin shadows)
  • Jawline
  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)

Popular with men and women.

1 hour.

Minimal downtime. Some initial bruising and swelling can be seen for a few days.

Up to two years.

Sculptra is an injectable treatment with a low complication rate. However, there are risks with any procedure. Dr Hannah will always fully discuss the benefits and any risks with you and utilise her training in anatomy and pharmacology to ensure that you have as safe and comfortable experience as possible.

After your treatment, you will be emailed with detailed aftercare information so that you can refer to it at any time.

As a general guide, you should avoid the following after your treatment: touching the area or applying make-up for 12 hours, getting sweaty for 48 hours (eg. sauna, strenuous exercise), alcohol for 24 hours, flying for 2 weeks. You will be given clear instructions about massaging the area for 5 days.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable treatment which contains microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a powerful biostimulator and helps to restore natural collagen and improve skin tightness.

Is Sculptra a “filler”?

Sculptra is not the same as a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Sculptra contains microparticles of PLLA which is a plant-derived powerful stimulator of collagen. With Sculptra, results are gradual, subtle and last up to two years.

Will Sculptra make me look fake?

Sculptra is a biostimulator and so results are achieved by your own skin cells producing natural collagen. This means Sculptra is ideal for people looking for a fresher but natural look.

How much does Sculptra treatment cost?

All Sculptra treatments at KinDRed Clinic are doctor-delivered.

A guide to the cost of Sculptra can be found here.

The number of vials you need depends on individual factors and will be discussed with you before starting treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend a course of 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart.

When will I see the benefits?

Sculptra is a biostimulator which means it produces beneficial skin results through a natural and gradual process. We would expect you to see some improvement after 3-4 weeks with the most improvement seen 3-6 months after your course.

How long do results last?

Studies have shown that results can last for up to 2 years. Most patients return for a single maintenance session every 1 – 2 years.

Can Sculptra be used with other treatments?

Sculptra works brilliantly in combination with other treatment modalities including Morpheus8, Lumecca, dermal filler and “botox”. Your KinDRed clinician will advise you about the best order to perform the treatments in your individual case.

Is there anyone that shouldn’t have Sculptra treatment?

A medical assessment will be undertaken before treatment but as a guide, Sculptra is not suitable in the following scenarios: pregnancy/breast feeding, active skin infection or skin cancer at the site of treatment, allergy to local anaesthetic, multiple or severe allergies to any allergen, undergoing active cancer treatments, taking systemic steroids or immunosuppressants or biologic medications, suffering from autoimmune disorder, suffering from a clotting disorder. If you have a history of cold sores, treatment could bring on an episode.
